Fan the Flame: A Haiku

Smoldering within
A heart and spirit aglow
Burn for Him again

It is not uncommon to feel weary and beat down. Let’s face it, loving people into the Kingdom can break our hearts and crush our spirits. Especially when expectations aren’t met or we are overloaded with responsibility.

Our loved ones might not support us and may try to discourage our progress on this journey, telling us , “It does not take all that,” or “God doesn’t expect you to give so much.”

Close friends who once walked with us might turn away or have their own life issues to deal with, leaving us feeling abandoned and like we are alone.

That is not the time to shut down, shrink back and let the fire we had when we first accepted the call to serve burn out.

We have to let Holy Spirit breathe on us so we can be reignited. We have to let Him fan the flame within so we can continue as trailblazers for the Lord.

Romans 12:11-13 (MSG)

Don’t burn out; keep yourselves fueled and aflame. Be alert servants of the Master, cheerfully expectant. Don’t quit in hard times; pray all the harder. Help needy Christians; be inventive in hospitality.
