Uncluttered Part 8: Embrace the Process of Delays

Resist the urge to abandon your purpose.
Resist the urge to run away  and hide.
Resist the urge to ignore truth.
Resist the urge to turn aside.
Embrace the process.

Often when we begin to work toward fulfilling our dreams or reaching a goal, we may find ourselves on a path leading us away from our destination. We get delayed by life events or mistakes we make. We may  even get sidelined due to rejection. That doesn’t mean the dream is over and not for us. It is merely a setback or a “time out”.

Instead of abandoning the dream, take time to reflect. Pray and meditate about your motives for pursuing the dream. If your conscience is clear and your motives are pure, then start analyzing the process for how you started.

  • Did you plan well?
  • Have you considered all the possibilities for success?
  • Will others benefit from your purpose?
  • What can you learn from this experience? and
  • How can you use what you learn from the setback/delay to get moving again?

If you are feeling disappointed or frustrated in your pursuit, don’t let fear and setbacks trick you into walking away from your dreams. View the struggle as an opportunity for growth, as an opportunity to get to know yourself better.

You were born to fulfill a special purpose, don’t stop until your work is finished.

Keep your eye on what you’re doing; accept the hard times along with the good; keep the Message alive; do a thorough job as God’s servant.
